Great East End Clean Up

Great East End Clean Up
Posted on 04/26/2017
On Earth Day on April 22nd, students from Pierson High School participated in the Great East End Clean Up and make a difference in their community by picking up over 300 pounds of trash they collected on both sides of the Sag Harbor-North Haven Bridge. The bridge was dedicated in memory of Jordan Haerter, a Pierson Alumni who was killed while serving in Iraq and April 22 was the anniversary of this tragedy.  This beach clean up was organized by the Pierson Interact Club, which is a community service club created by Cristina Stivala, a sophomore at Pierson High School. With the help of Vice President Eleanor Byrne and advisor Mrs. Sue Denis and other club members, the group was able to complete this community service project which will hopefully have a positive lasting impact on our local ecosystems and environment.
