Pierson celebrates homecoming
On Sept. 13, Pierson Middle and High Schools had a full day of celebrating as a Pierson Whalers community. The day included a win for the girls' volleyball team, a parade through Main Street with the homecoming court, games, and activities on the Pierson backfield.
This year, the homecoming court included freshmen Zach Browngardt and Joan Borghi, sophomores Charlie Rissman and Olivia Quinn, juniors Alessandro Marfoglia and Shelby Casey, and seniors Andy Wayne and Cali Wilson. The students received their sashes and crowns after a lip sync battle during the homecoming night carnival.
Supported by the Pierson PTSA, Booster Foundation, Sag Harbor Little League, Youth Hoop, SHES PTA, and SAFE in Sag Harbor, homecoming night was filled with school spirit, community, and fun. Family members, students, faculty, and staff decorated the outdoor space in red, white, and black attire. The event included the traditional lip sync battle by grade level, carnival games, an inflatable obstacle course, henna tattoos, a 360-video booth, food trucks, a DJ, and more. As part of the PTSA’s fundraising initiatives, a dunk tank featured Pierson teachers including Mr. Clinton, Mr. Freij, and Coach White, challenging students on their throwing capabilities.
