Pierson High School Students Receive Several Awards
Three Pierson High School students have been honored for extemporarily work and
outstanding character.
Pierson senior, Grace D’Angelo, was recently awarded Employee of the Month in her Career
and Technical Education program. D’Angelo is in the Art, Design & Visual Communication
program at Eastern Long Island Academy of Applied Technology.
“The title of Employee of the Month was established to recognize those students whom
their instructors would want to hire,” explains Nicole Zergebel, principal of Eastern Long
Island Academy of Applied Technology. “Being selected as the Employee of the Month is an
honor, and these students should serve as role models among their peers.”
Virginia Kasselakis, Pierson junior, received The President’s Gold Volunteer Service Award
from AmeriCorps. This award is in recognition and appreciation of her commitment to
strengthening our nation and communities through volunteer service. Kasselakis has
completed 253 hours of service helping her neighbors in need and is being recognized as a
leader and driver for a better tomorrow.
Pierson senior, Milla Campomar, recently received College Board National Hispanic Scholar
Recognition for outstanding achievement on the PSAT. Qualification for this recognition is
based on Campomar’s combined verbal, math and writing skills on the PSAT taken during
her junior year of high school.
