Pierson Middle School students experience Mayhem Poets

Students from Sag Harbor’s Pierson Middle School recently traveled to
Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center for a unique performance. The Mayhem Poets,
a group of three theatre and comedy trained lyrical virtuosos, performed a modernized
approach to a poetry show.
With a combination of hip hop, theatre, improv and stand-up comedy, the students
experienced poetry, widely considered the oldest form of literature, in a contemporary
fashion. The performance encouraged viewers to look at the literary art in a new light, one
that deems it a great outlet to share thoughts and words on today’s culture.
